What Ingredients Are Used in Extruded Fish Feed Pellets?

Mid-to-upper-level fish (bass, tilapia): Suitable for floating feed formulations. These fish prefer to feed at the surface, so the feed needs to be highly buoyant and water-resistant. The raw material formulation is based on starch (40% corn flour + 15% wheat flour), accounting for 55%, providing sufficient gelatinization raw materials for the high-temperature and high-pressure (130-160℃, 4-6MPa) conditions of the extruder, ensuring that the pellets form a uniform porous structure with a buoyancy rate ≥95%. The protein raw materials are fish meal (20%) + soybean meal (15%) to supplement essential amino acids, and the oil content is increased to 5%, using a post-oil spraying process to enhance palatability and water resistance. Additives are combined with compound vitamins (0.2%) and minerals (1.8%) to suit the high-temperature conditions of dry pet food making machines and avoid nutrient loss.

Bottom-level fish (grass carp, common carp): Suitable for sinking feed formulations. These types of fish feed at the bottom, requiring feed with moderate density and compact structure. The starch content in the feed formula is reduced to 30% (20% corn flour + 10% wheat flour), while the protein content is increased to 40% (25% soybean meal + 15% fishmeal). The extrusion degree of the extruder is reduced, and the parameters are adjusted to a temperature of 120-140℃ and a pressure of 3-4MPa to achieve a pellet density of 1.1-1.3g/cm³, allowing for rapid sinking. Adding 1% binder enhances pellet compactness and prevents disintegration in water. The oil content is controlled at 3%, and the moisture content of the feed is increased to 13%-14%. The feed is designed for low-temperature, low-pressure operation in a floating fish feed pellet making machine to ensure optimal pelleting results.

Juvenile fish (various fry): Use easily digestible feed formulas. Young fish have weak intestinal function, so their feed needs to be loose, easily digestible, and nutritionally balanced. The proportion of fishmeal in the feed formula is increased to 25%-30%, while the proportion of starch is reduced to 30% (15% cornmeal + 15% wheat flour). The feed is ground to 100 mesh and is designed for use with a small fish food pellet making machine operating at low speed and low temperature (250-300 rpm, 80-100℃) to minimize nutrient damage from high temperatures. 0.1% probiotics and 0.3% multivitamins are added later to improve digestibility and immunity. The amount of oil added is controlled at 2% to avoid burdening the young fish's digestive system.
